Biography

About me

I love to play banjo, grow food, hike up mountains, wash dishes, keep bees, go swimming, fly fish, and much more.  Recently I've been feeling especially passionate about bicycles and botany, and I spent this past winter studying neotropical flora along a 2000 km bicycle ride between San Salvador and Panama City.

Career plans

I love work that gets me outside, is personally fulfilling, and produces tangible benefits for my community and the world around me. I'd like to start out working as a field biologist and go from there.

Why I chose Western

I picked Western because it has unique programs that allow me to direct the course of my own education. As a student at both Huxley and Fairhaven Colleges, I was able to take advantage of a wealth of resources to help me along the way.

My favorite professor(s)

Jim Helfield and Leo Bodensteiner. I'm pretty sure they both use gills to breathe.

My favorite Huxley class/internship/project

I knew I wanted to be at Huxley after taking the Art, Science, & Ethics of Fly fishing and Advanced Fly fishing. I can't imagine a better way to learn about fish biology and stream ecology!
