I heard about Huxley through a family friend, and it seemed like the perfect school for someone who wants to do anything related to the environment.

Biography

About me

When I'm not in school, I love to run and hike. I also enjoy spending time with my friends, roommates and, when I'm at home, my cat Mylo. While I love to run around campus and through Sehome Arboretum, my favorite off-campus trail is Fragrance Lake.

Career plans

After school, I would like to work with the National Park Service as a ranger or with the US Fish and Wildlife Service as a policy maker.

Why I chose Western

I wanted a school that was near an ocean but not too far from the mountains and forest. I heard about Huxley through a family friend, and it seemed like the perfect school for someone who wants to do anything related to the environment. I love the location and I’m a big fan of all of the bricks even though I trip over them all the time.

My favorite Huxley professor

Either David Shull who taught my oceanography class or Andy Bunn who taught my Intro to Global Change class. Dr. Shull is so passionate about the oceans and what he is teaching that it makes it really difficult to not be engaged and want to learn more, while Dr. Bunn makes seemingly random comments throughout the class that actually tie directly to what we are talking about.

My favorite Huxley class/internship/project

My favorite Huxley class so far is ESCI 392, Intro to Global Change with Andy Bunn. The class was hard but Dr. Bunn really knows his stuff and never failed to keep class interesting, even at 9am on a Monday.
