Deven Vilar
My Huxley internship was with the Non-GMO Project. I would love to continue working with that awesome organization.
Biography
About me
Outside of school, I enjoy seeing live music, biking around Bellingham, cooking, and foraging for berries when the season is right. My favorite trail to hike and bike near Bellingham is the Interurban Trail. I like to jump on in Fairhaven and take it into Larrabee State Park!
Career plans
As a WWU student, I had an internship with the Non-GMO Project. I would love to continue working with that awesome organization, even if that's much further down the road.
Why I chose Western
I was drawn to the western side of the state for the ocean and all the outdoor recreation possibilities. I chose Western for Huxley, which I had learned about while still in high school.
My favorite professor(s)
I've had so many amazing professors but two of my favorites would be Grace Wang and Jean Melious. Both are so incredibly intelligent and passionate, it's hard to not feel captivated by their classes. I must also give a shout out to Eli Loomis. He is the man!
My favorite Huxley class/internship/project
Natural History of the PNW taught by Abe Lloyd has been one of my favorites. Field trips every week to learn hands-on about different ecosystems--what could be better?!
