Event Description
Come learn about “International Business, Planning, and Environmental Sustainability: Mexico’s Cultures, Histories, Activism,” with Professor Gigi Berardi. Part of Western’s faculty-led Global Learning Program, the program runs March 22 through 31, 2025, but pre-trip work happens during Winter quarter. Because this program is offered during the academic year, students can use their financial aid, and there are many scholarships available. Enrollment is limited to 16, so apply now!
Mexico has one of the world’s most accomplished food heritages. Based in Querétaro (Guanajuato state), northwest of Mexico City, participants will study food heritages and business and sustainability challenges, and planning will be a significant theme throughout. Also, students will be exposed to ideas about neoliberal policy and programs and their effects on business and the environment. Some examples include export agriculture and groundwater extraction, fluoride and arsenic contamination, Mexican politico-economic history, land reform, narco-corruption, migration, and organizing community-led solutions and models.
Stop by the info session on Friday or reach out to Professor Gigi Berardi at Gigi.Berardi@wwu.edu with questions!
