Join us at an information session to learn about the summer 2025 course, ENVS 437, Mt. Baker Wilderness, with Professor Nick Englefried. 

Embark on a transformative summer adventure with our North Cascades field-based course! Earn two credits while hiking, camping, and exploring one of the largest wild landscapes in the contiguous U.S.

Over 10 unforgettable days on Mount Baker (Kulshan), you'll dive into the rich tapestry of the region's environment, plants, and wildlife, all while gaining hands-on backcountry travel experience. Guided by expert faculty, this immersive class examines the intersections of environmental issues, social justice, and global citizenship, making it ideal for students passionate about environmental studies, education, social justice, or outdoor recreation.

Course Dates:

  • Pre-Departure Meeting: August 2, 2025
  • Preparatory Hiking at WWU: August 4, 2025
  • Wilderness Hiking and Camping: August 5 - 13, 2025
