Event Description

Join Western’s environmental clubs and community partners for an evening of collaboration, connection, and learning about the important work happening in our region. The event will also feature live music from the Western Americana Music Group, adding a warm and celebratory atmosphere throughout the evening.

The Environmental Club Showcase brings together a wide range of student-led environmental, outdoor, and sustainability groups for a night of stories, hands-on learning, and opportunities to get involved. Attendees will be able to explore tables hosted by clubs and local organizations, learn about current projects, and connect directly with students and partners working in restoration, climate action, outdoor recreation, and community resilience.

The evening will open with remarks from Teena Gabrielson, Dean of the College of the Environment, followed by an inspiring speech from Rachel Vasak, Executive Director of the Whatcom Land Trust and WWU alumna.

During the main program, select clubs will share short presentations highlighting their missions, current work, and ways for students to participate, followed by brief Q&A sessions. Before and after the presentations, guests are encouraged to browse the tabling area, meet club members, enjoy the music, and discover new opportunities on and off campus.

Tabling clubs and organizations include:
• Club for Urban and Environmental Sustainability
• Students for Renewable Energy
• Bee Club
• Hiking Club
• Foraging Club
• SPLASH (Society for Promoting Learning in Aquatic Sciences and Habitats)
• Salish Sea Club
• Ecological Restoration Club
• Mushroom Club
• Climbing Club
• Bellingham Rotaract Club
• Students for Climate Action
• Plus additional community partners from the local environmental and sustainability sectors

This event helps strengthen collaboration across Western by creating a shared space for visibility, relationship-building, and collective climate and sustainability action. Whether you’re deeply involved in environmental work or just curious to learn more, this is a welcoming space to connect.

This event is made possible with funding provided by the Sustainability, Equity, and Justice Fund at Western.
