Research Talk presented by Faculty Candidate for Toxicology Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences
Description: Lauren utilizes a number of techniques including histology, gene expression, physiological assessments, and behavioral assays to investigate complex research problems in a multi-modal fashion. This type of research requires the use of a number of organisms including algae, daphnids (water fleas), hyalella (amphipods), leeches, crayfish, snails, and many species of fish. In her talk, Lauren will demonstrate how her research promotes multi-sectoral collaborations and brings together seemingly disparate disciplines to answer complex research questions in novel ways.
Dr. Lauren Zink: Lauren (she/her) is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. Additionally, Lauren simultaneously holds teaching positions at the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) and Mikaisto, Red Crow Community College (Standoff, Alberta, Canada). At each institution, Lauren is heavily involved in promoting undergraduate research, pursuing pedagogical development, and seeking ways to contribute to the university community though committee and volunteer activities.
